I need help trying to find out this movie.?

The movie was made in the seventies. It was about these two guys who might be cops trapped in the ghetto in the projects and there trying to get out before the gangs kill them. And everyone living there wont let them in and now they have to survive till day light. I have seen the trailer I just cant think of the name now can someone help me.
