Why does god create children that die so soon after birth?

Well obviously it's because the baby's mother was a big ol' sinner! God made that baby deformed and killed it so that its mother would see that He's a loving, compionate deity and be all the more thankful and start following Him. Oh wait, you said the mother is heartbroken and can't get over it? In that case, I'll have to defer to the Christians on here to send a couple Bible verses your way and pray for her.
