When I try to watch video's, YouTube or anything that plays videos it keeps stopping or getting hung up.?

What can I do or get to stop this. I can't even watch i.e. a Yahoo News video before it stops playing. I have Adobe flashplayer and shockwave installed. I have the latest versions of WMP installed and my connection is thru my cable provider.
